Between 1860 and 1866, the Physico-Medical Society of Würzburg published seven volumes of the Würzburg Medicinal Journal. The printing and publishing were managed by Stahel'sche Book and Art Store. The editorial responsibilities were shared in varying combinations by Heinrich von Bamberger (1822-1888), Friedrich Wilhelm Scanzoni von Lichtenfels (1821-1891), August Förster (1822-1865), and Friedrich Daniel von Recklinghausen (1833-1910).

In addition to specialist contributions, the journal featured the proceedings of the Physico-Medical Society for the years 1860 to 1864/65, as well as the annual reports of the society. These reports were also published concurrently in the Würzburg Scientific Journal. The Würzburg Medicinal Journal was discontinued after the seventh volume.
