Würzburger Adreßbuch (1897-1917)

The Würzburger Adreßbuch (Würzburg Address Directory) was an annual directory and reference publication issued in Würzburg by Stürtz Verlag. It evolved from the Adreß- und Geschäfts-Handbuch für die kgl. bayer. Kreis-Haupt- und Universitäts-Stadt Würzburg and was published under the title Würzburger Adreßbuch from 1897 to 1917. In 1918, the publication was renamed Würzburger Wohnungsbuch: offizielles Adreßbuch. Between 1940 and 1956, it again appeared under its original title, Würzburger Adreßbuch, before being renamed Adreßbuch der Stadt Würzburg in 1957.
As a comprehensive reference work, the directory provides detailed information on the inhabitants of Würzburg, including their occupations, places of residence, and business activities. It is complemented by systematic street, house, and business directories, overviews of public authorities, institutions, and associations, as well as information on transportation, municipal regulations, and local statutes. Beginning with the second annual edition, the directory was expanded to include the surrounding municipalities, each with its own register of inhabitants. Individual volumes also contain thematic appendices, particularly on the city's architectural development and urban history.
This page lists only those volumes published under the title Würzburger Adreßbuch.
